Artist Alert: Snoh Aalegra

Here at Daily Dose of D’s we love alerting our readers to diverse and melodic artists. Full of talent and with vocals to sooth, transcend and elevate – Ms. Snoh Aalegra.

This R&B/Soul singer hails from Los Angeles, born in Sweden to Persian parents and signed to Sony at the age of 14. She works closely with producer No I.D and her work has already been sampled by mega artists like Drake – using her “Time (Click to listen)” in his “Do Not Disturb (Click to listen)” track on the More Life.

She’s done collaborations with Common (Bad Things), John Mayer (Under the Influence), RZA (Emotional), Vic Mensa (You Keep Me Waiting). (Click the name to hear the collaboration track)

She has released three total albums to-date: There Will Be Sunshine, Don’t Explain, and Feels

Her sound is likened to a mix between an early Alicia Keys, Amy Winehouse, Lena. Soothing, sultry, and smooth.

In a recent interview she notes:

My heart is always listening to the music I grew up with from the ‘70s and ‘80s to early ‘90s. I’m definitely inspired by Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, James Brown, Lauryn Hill. This album feels like everything I’m inspired by, it’s just what’s in my heart. My real life has inspired me as well. All of these lyrics are real experiences and purely what’s in my heart. I’m proud of that influence.

I encourage you to enjoy her Live performances (Click to view) and listen to her latest album: Feels (Click to listen)
