Despite our gender-norms, our “standards”, and our “roles”, we’re all quite similar. Although we all are bestowed a personality unique to our heriditary genes, influenced by our upbringing and molded by our experiences and the product of our actions. We’re all born with the same framework – emotions, thoughts, etc. And as it stands, there’s a little bit of “man” in all of us.
A 2005 analysis of 46 meta-analyses that were conducted during the last two decades of the 20th century underscores that men and women are basically alike in terms of personality, cognitive ability and leadership. Psychologist Janet Shibley Hyde, PhD, of the University of Wisconsin in Madison, discovered that males and females from childhood to adulthood are more alike than different on most psychological variables. This month we’ve taken things full circle. Our goal was to help promote less of this:
with a little understanding and maybe a different point of view than what you’re used to.
We offered a bit of insight into our understanding of The Mold of A Man, put ourselves in his shoes and touched on the Acts of Dating, and the subject of Singledom.
With Courting: One Directional or Bi we offered some unique opinions and views about the path by which we take to transition from single individual to a union. After which, the discussion of Expectations in a Relationship becomes most important.
Transitioning from dating to marriage, with 10 Tips we voiced unbiased and healthy opinions of how to keep things in a positive direction in one’s relationship. We offered substantial things for men and women to consider of a man’s Adjustment To Fatherhood. All in effort to bring couples closer and give a bit of understanding to What it is to be a Man Today and the things that are commonly overlooked or misunderstood in our society.
We’ve offered advice, from our opinions, research, experiences, and reflection that we believe to be healthy, sound, and insightful. As we’ve taken this journey we’ve touched on many unspoken aspects of men’s lives that are important to understand to build a closer bond with the man in your life.
At the end of it all, we are all just people and all have feelings, fears, desires, strengths and weaknesses. Our anatomy doesn’t change our emotions. Our ideals of what it is to be a MAN can be defined differently. However, in recognizing our definitions, we must also recognize there is a little bit of man in all of us by default and express a greater level of understanding and appreciation for the men in our lives. From Dealing with stress at home or at work, balancing strengths with humility and Remaining on the Positive Side of Confidence there was something to be gained by every reader.
To our male readers, we overall wanted you to feel appreciated and slightly understood, and that you have a voice and a platform with women who at least try to understand and level. To our other readers, we also wanted you to use our posts to help you embrace The Man You Need To Appreciate.
We hope you’ve gained some insight, laughs, and use of our testimonies and commentary this month during the “Mark of Men”. We appreciate your support and interest in our writing.
