5-Product Spiral Set (DIY) – Soft, Bouncy, Beautiful

All the rain and moisture in the air turned my straightened hair into a puff. So after a img_1563-1few days of bunning it up and covering with a beanie cap, I decide to embrace and enhance the curls.

Looking for something simple and quick, yet effective I used these 5 products to create a high-volume, bouncy, soft, shiny spiral set.

Step 1: I sectioned my hair into about 12 two-strand twists and gently washed each section with Shea Moisture Coconut Hibiscus Curling Shampoo-13 oz, re-twisting under warm water after washed. (~15min)

Step 2: I applied The Mane Choice Green Tea & Carrot Conditioning Mask- 8 oz generously to each section. Untwist – apply – re-twist. (~15min)

and I slept

(you probably would be fine to let it sit for an hour and then proceed to Step 3, but I just prefer leaving it in overnight)

I placed my saturated twists under plastic caps and a bonnet and slept in it overnight.  The best part was not having neck pain in the morning and no dents or bends or frizz during styling.

Step 3: In the morning, I rinsed my twists in warm water, untwisting – rinsing thoroughly – re-twisting, until all the mask was removed. (~10min)

Step 4: I unraveled one twist, clipping the rest of my hair out of the way, used a finger-scoop full of The Mane Choice Doesn’t Get Much “Butter” Than This Daily Hair Dressing 8oz “Pack of 2”, added a few drops of NOW Organic Jojoba Oil,4-Ounce, rubbed together and smoothed onto the two sections of hair exposed from ends to tip. Finger-combed it to distribute through the hair and then added a small amount of Piping Rock Sweet Almond Oil 4 fl oz (118 mL) Bottle Organic Cold Pressed Frunus Amygdalus Dulcis to smooth and silken the hair.

Step 5: I rodded my hair using these inexpensive Flexible Rollers (6ea for $1).

I ended up using 3 to 4 rollers per twist because i wanted more defined curls and my hair is pretty thick. In total I used 45 rollers. (~40min I wanted to be thorough)

Step 6: I sat under a hooded dryer for about 45min to speed up the drying process, and then let my hair air-dry for a few hours.

Step 7: Took down the rollers carefully. Unwinding and not pulling on the hair helps maintain the curl and prevents frizz. Then separated the curls further with my fingers, simply coiling each around my finger as I split the hair, and lifted the roots a little.

End Result!

SUPER soft with Lots of curl, shine, bounce! Ready for the week(end)!
